vintage notes
The 2023 growing season was all about patience. A very long, wet winter replenished the soils and filled our reservoirs. Cooler spring weather delayed budbreak and the start of the growing season by several weeks. Late spring saw moderate warmth and led to substantial canopy growth, as well as a healthy crop load on the vines. Mild, warm temperatures created perfect ripening conditions throughout the summer and early fall. The longer hang time allowed the fruit to reach optimum ripeness, and resulted in a superb vintage that is fresh, full of flavor, with great balance and fruit density.
Tasting notes
The 2023 vintage of Beller Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon opens with a vivid, expressive fruit character. Notes of boysenberry, acai, black olive and forest floor dominate the layered aromatics. Concentrated, yet fresh flavors of mulberry, herbs and earth are at the core, while powerfully dense yet supple tannin rounds out the finish nicely. A powerful, fresh and age-worthy vintage of Beller Cabernet - this wine can be cellared for many years to come.

“This comes from this high elevation site on Mount Veeder, developed by Rob Beller. This is an early ripening site that is leased by HALL which is mainly planted to Cabernet Sauvignon. Very dark in the glass, this shows off gorgeous potpourri notes alongside mountain huckleberry, fresh sage and wild blackberry pie. The intense aromatics bring you back to the glass for more hedonistic enjoyment. The palate is big and broad-shouldered with refined tannins and loads of chocolate, tar and tobacco leaf with stony nuances. A delight to savor in the glass now, enjoy this complex and delicious beauty over the next twenty years. Drink 2025-2045”

“The 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon Beller Vineyard is super-expressive and sensual right out of the glass. This is one of the most elegant vintages of Beller I can remember tasting. The long, cold growing season tempered some of this site’s wilder leanings. Dried herbs, mocha, sage, licorice, and mocha reveal themselves with some coaxing, but it is the wine’s overall balance that speaks most eloquently.”
